Maij is no stranger to the northern California music scene. He was the founding member of "No Man's Land", "Steal Head" and "Calico", all three trail-blazing classic rock outfits very well known in the northern California area. He is now the progenitor of "The Area 51 Project", or simply "Area 51".!) unites Melody and harmony along with sophisticated word-play that creates a very unique sound. His influences, and thus his writing style is eclectic. 

His latest endeavor is an off-shoot from No man's Land..."The Area 51 Project", an acoustic presentation of his and Garth O'Brien's origiinal songs.

Maij plays a variety of instruments, but writes primarily on acoustic guitar. In No Man's Land, he sings both lead and backing vocals and plays bass guitar. In "The Area 51 Project", he plays acoustic guitar and sings lead on about two thirds of the material.

A graphic artist as well, Maij has supplied icons, and original art work found both on this website and his CDs, "No Man's Land" and "Full Burn...stones thrown from a glass house."
